The Soil and Water Conservation District of Sullivan County, Tennessee is currently recruiting people to become members of the Earth Team. A National organization of volunteers,the Earth Team is affiliated with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Members of the Earth Team work in partnership with NRCS and Soil and Water Conservation Districts to conduct both individual and group projects. By working together, NRCS, Sullivan County, individuals, and groups can expand conservation efforts and better serve the community.
We are currently looking for groups and individuals to serve as volunteers.
wishes to become affiliated with groups already conducting
natural
resource conservation projects, such as stream clean-ups,
riparian
restoration plantings, and storm drain stencilling. The
group's
members can become part of the Earth Team and receive
tremendous
benefits such as:
NRCS is also looking for individuals to volunteer time in education and outreach, clerical, technical, and public information positions. Individuals receive the same benefits as groups including becoming part of a national volunteer network and the opportunity to work with experts in the field of conservation.
Possible individual projects may include, conducting watershed and water quality programs for schools, youth groups, or homeowner associations, or creating a resource data base of nonpoint source pollution information.
